It's just to slow down the in-rush current, once that's over it's like the thermositor isn't there. I think you can test the amp with out either. WebMay 19, 2006 · I recently acquired a Vintage Club 30 with a Scorpion speaker in it. I haven't used the VC50 since. I put a set of Groove Tubes el84 rated "5" into it, and it handles everything I try to play, which runs from Dire Straights clean tones to Velvet Revolver OD.
