His views on the lack of a scriptural basis for both the Scottish nation and the national church were expressed in The Testimony of the King of Martyrs concerning his Kingdom . WebGeorge Glas (1725 – 30 November 1765) was a Scottish seaman and merchant adventurer in West Africa . The son of John Glas, the divine, Glas was born at Dundee in 1725, and is said to have been brought up as a surgeon. He obtained command of a ship which traded between Brazil, the northwest coasts of Africa and the Canary Islands. [1]

Though the Glasite Church is now 'extinct', certain former Glasite chapels, which tended to be of unusual form, survive, e.g. in Edinburgh, Dundee and Perth. The former Dundee Glasite church is still used for religious purposes, having been acquired by the adjacent St Andrews Parish Church in 1973 and transformed into part of a complex of halls. The archives of the Glasite Church are held by Archive Services, University of Dundee.
