WebMy passport not appearing in Windows explorer, fails initializing. My passport does not get detected. I tried to do the following but no success. 1. Install drivers from WD website --> drivers installation successful --> HDD not detected 2. Check the drive in Disk management --> Disk initialization failure --> I/O issue 3. WebMar 4, 2014 · OS is Windows 8, 64bit I have a WD my passport external drive, on connecting to USB port, it is recognized under “remove media” and it can be seen on Disc Management pane, but it is listed as Disc 1, Type Unknown and Status Not initialized. The drivers are all installed and it physically connects and seems to function normally.
